Amy was running low on Nespresso coffee pods and imminent mayhem was in the air. Not to worry, we are in a French territory and a Nespresso store was located inland! We rented a car today and took off to parts unknown, places were you cannot see the ocean which is a little scary for salty sailors. Believe it or not, this is the first time we have driven a car since October. Upon closing the car doors we see that the car is manual. Amy wants to drive to relive her manual Mercury Lynx diesel glory days and Jim for his racy GLI 16V and Maxima. The map apps were not reliable so Amy is designated driver and Jim the navigator. We pass through beautiful countryside, dozens of roundabouts (which Amy claims to be a pro), and go up and down big hills. We would have taken some pictures but navigating turned out to be full time. We arrive and the store is not there! A desperate Amy grabs a local woman and communicates in a combination of Indiana accented French and charades. All is not lost, the store is across the road in a mall. We have not been to a mall since, who knows?! We park in covered parking and remark entering the air conditioned mall is like re-entering civilization. The Nespresso is then purchased and we see a massive supermarket larger than Walmart is attached. We wonder the aisles in awe and purchase some items and then we are off to the boat. Overall we have found Martinique to be much more urbanized that we thought it would be and its citizens take pride in keeping the island very clean of litter.

Glad to hear Amy will not perish for lack of a caffeine fix.
Does she still use the blue mug? We have extras if she needs a replacement.
Yes, she uses it every day
Oh how I would have liked to be a mouse in the backseat on this coffee seeking adventure! I will vouch for Amy…she’s a trained professional with a stick shift through a round about🚗
Stay Safe❤️
Amy was born to drive just like Beth T.! Love round-abouts – am a big fan. Much safer. So glad you are having these adventures – the more unfamiliar, the better – really gets you out of your comfort zone, especially when you don’t speak the language (at least it does for me).. So glad Amy got her Nespresso – need that fuel!
Tracy, we at not at your level at world travel but are giving it go!
