Sorry to not have posted in a while but we are still anchored here in Jolly Harbour, Antigua. There have been two deaths and 19 cases here but the Antigua government looks to be doing a great job with their limited resources. We stay on the boat as required by curfew unless we need to go in to the store to provision. The coast guard comes by to patrol the harbor at least two times a day. You cannot move your boat without permission from the coast guard. The rules allow food shopping from 7 AM to Noon. You cannot leave your home or boat before seven so the drill is you arrive at the store a little after seven and a long line forms around the building. You must wear a mask at all times ashore and several cruisers have been graciously sewing them for others because there are no masks for sale. Our Gill UV buffs have been doing a good double duty as masks. If all works well in line you can get in the store before noon. The line takes around two hours. We have heard quite of quite a few folks that wait in the line for hours and not get in the store before curfew starts. Aboard the boat we have been trying to keep busy with projects. Amy has been tackling the stainless day by day and Jim is prepping for some varnishing, maintaining systems, and keeping the bottom clean. It is definitely time for a haul out because we have removing a few barnacles that have started to attach to the ablative antifoul. We are also reading news and government updates trying to time our trip back to the US before hurricane season which is June 1st for our boat insurance. Our current insurer Pantaenius, had an ownership change and dropped all its yacht policies so we we just renewed with a different insurer. The USVI is still open, has a lot more COVID-19 cases, and looks to be packed with boats. We will most likely stop there on the way back after some of the boats take off. We feel lucky to be socially isolated in such a scenic location and hope everyone is staying safe.
