Cruisertown

We are living a more “suburban” life here in Elizabeth Harbour. There is a cruiser’s net broadcast every morning at 0800 to get news on arrivals, departures, events, local business services, kids corner, trades, etc. Sadly we learned a fellow cruiser in the anchorage drowned on Monday. Apparently he fell from or lost his dinghy and swam after it unable to catch up to it in the current. The official harbor statistician gave the current yacht count at 117. The stat man said the normal count for this week of the year is over 300! Boats go in and out of the harbor based on the wind direction to Long, Conception, and Cat Islands, however most appear to stay here for the winter. We moved the boat over by George Town as the wind shifted more westerly and have gone ashore the last few days to replenish our ship’s stores. We plan to move around as the winds change and will report back on the other beautiful anchorages in the harbor.

It might be hard to see but people spell out their boat names with rocks and photograph them from the hilltop
In the background you can see the tunnel to access Lake Victoria. It can get dicey with strong SE winds.
