George Town to Great Guana Cay

Picture of Black Point anchorage when I was checking the rig

On the 31st we departed George Town in the early morning. We left right after a front that we had been sheltering in behind Elizabeth Island. The Cruisers Net on VHF 72 announces the harbor count every Monday and we heard the boat count at 297 as we were leaving the cut. The announcer said the historical average was usually around 160 on this week in past years, so we left in the nick of time. We initially sailed on a wet beat in around 18 to 22 knots in two meter seas with a reef in the main and genoa. We swapped out the genoa to the staysail to balance us out and back to the genoa as the wind and waves clocked and the beat turned into a reach. We entered Dotham Cut with the wind and current behind us pushing us through like a cork and anchored in Black Point. We went ashore today and the Black Point settlement is much more active that when we were here last year during a stricter lockdown. We had our first pizza in months at Deshomans and took a nice walk to the ocean.
