We launched the boat on Wednesday 18th after completion of our great American summer road trip. We were happy to see friends and family after a long absence. Amy took a side trip to see friends in Montana while Jim had a fun racing Thistles at our home club in Atlanta. Some of the boat projects we are checking off include a new secondary charger, hull waxing, a bottom job, descaling the raw water systems on the engine and generator, painting (furler drum, davits, stern touch up), tuning the rig, adding strop lines to the genoa and staysail top furler, and changing out the boom topping lift and staysail halyard. Both these lines were strung on the wrong side of a spreader cross bar inside the mast and had strong chaff wear. We still have a few projects to complete. One is the dripless shaft seal. It was replaced while out of the water but leaks. It appears the unit came with the wrong rings so our contractor is getting a replacement sent. The bad news is we have to take to take the boat back out of the water next week to get it installed. We also have a new windlass on backorder but due to supply chain issues we will not get it until October. After we sort out the shaft seal and some electrical lose ends we will make our way south down the bay. We feel very lucky hurricane Henri is not effecting the Chesapeake as it rolls by and hope all our friends in New England weather the storm safely.
