Big Galliot to Black Point

Yesterday we left the clear waters of Big Galliot at high tide through a shallow banks passage to Black Point. We have been pushing our luck regarding depths and are happy we still have paint on the bottom of the keel. We had light southerly winds with a gentle sail northwards to the new anchorage. Our spinnaker is still out of commission with the reverse wrap on the top down furler. I watched a video that said to unwrap the bottom first, then the top will take care of itself. Furler progress did not go well on the boat, so today so we scouted a long unused dock and ratcheted the furler between two pilings. We worked for three hours in the blazing sun on this puzzle as rays and turtles glided under the dock. Remember, cruising is defined as fixing things in exotic places. Amy called the wrap a sailing version of a Rubik’s Cube. You really have to see it to believe it. Exhausted, we returned to the boat to cool down with a swim. Amy was not as tired as she let on and pelted me with cannonball dives from the deck. I will hoist the furler back up tomorrow morning to see if we made any progress. I am starting to get cravings for a Chick-fil-A so we need to keep moving north.
