Emerald Bay Marina

Emerald Bay Marina, entrance in background

Yesterday at dawn we left the anchorage of Black Point and exited through Dotham Cut at slack tide after the winds from the front had dissipated. We initially had good wind and were able to make an angle to sail down the Exuma chain. About a third into our trip the wind turned on our nose so we motor sailed to Emerald Bay Marina. The marina’s entrance marks on the charts were missing but we made our way in through the channel. Docking was a challenge because the marina’s radio was not working correctly so we sort of took a guess at our slip assignment because no one from the marina was there to take our lines. Once secured we washed Renegade’s decks of salt for the first time in a month. We then took advantage of the fresh water ourselves with the marina showers. We are almost out of food so we walked over to a nearby vacant Grand Isle Resort and had dinner on the ocean front patio. To get there we walked across a golf hole. The gated condo/resort and golf course made me feel like I was in Florida. Today I changed two Racor fuel filters and Amy took a walk with ocean front views on the golf course before we took off to Stocking Island around 11:00. We arrived at Elizabeth Harbour through Conch Cut at low tide and followed the Explorer Chartbook waypoints precisely because it is super shallow in here! Next up: Georgetown & Stocking Island.
